あげる ageru

POINT
(giver）は/ が（receiver）にsomethingをさしあげる、あげる、やる。
「さしあげる」は受ける人が目上の場合に使われる。
「やる」はしばしば動物や植物の場合に使われる。また友達や家族など気軽に話すときにも使われる。
The verb さしあげる is used when the receiver of the action has a socially higher status.
The verb やる is often used toward animals and plants. Beside it’s also used for conversations of less politeness degree.

I gave my girlfriend a watch for her birthday.
2. このおみやげは部長に差し上げようと思って買いました。
I bought this souvenir to give to my boss（general manager）.
3. 夜に私は出かけるけど、猫にえさをやるのを忘れないでね。
Don't forget to feed the cat because I'm going out at night.
4. それをあいつにやるのはもったいないよ。
It's not worth giving that to him.
